With Big Gay Al still recovering from his nasty masturbating injury, I once again had no mates, luckily Alf and Tony were going to Meadowcroft, Marksbury near bath for a swift hundred birds only, so I tagged along.
The first few stands started well for me and Alf hitting eighty/ninety percent while Tony was struggling to find any form, by two thirds distance me and Alf were neck and neck kicking some serious Chinese butt.
However on the home straight me and Alf hit into a spell of shit shooting while Tony all of a sudden turned into a shooting god and couldn’t miss.
All in all it was some good friends having a good time, a little banter and some good fun shooting
So how did it end?
Tony claimed victory for China on the last stand.
And the simo losers in joint second place me and Alf
In an unusual departure from our usual practice of just taking in the cheaper numpty shoots Al, Jos and myself persuaded by Alf decided to have ago at a CPSA registered shoot, so off we all went to Meadowcroft, Marksbury near Bath in Somerset.
Meadowcroft is a great shooting ground set in a valley with a mixture of easy, teasing, testing and what the fuck birds it makes for a good mornings claybusting.
Al has finally found some form after spending a few weeks floundering in the shit pile and came out on top
Next in line was myself, I couldn’t hit the side of a bus this morning even managed a quacking
Finally today’s shit filled wheelbarrow, Japanese Toilet Boy
After breaking one-off in me yesterday you would have thought the My shit don’t stink trio would have least given me the chance for a re-match today and invited me to Meadowcroft, Marksbury, Somerset.
You thought wrong, they didn’t, they covertly crept out of town about 8:30 with not so much as a courtesy text, even Dr John got an invite, it wouldn’t have hurt, it wouldn’t have even broke the “We don’t shoot in a group of more than five” rule, well fuck ’em, their dog and their wheelbarrow.
Enough of this bitterness I am sure it is all being toted up by the big man and on with the scores
Baz = 76/100 (must have been an easy shoot)
Andy = 71/100
Terry = 58/100
And this morning’s pan splatter Dr John with 53/100
All our mates were doing other things today so Baz and myself tried out a new shooting ground (scores to follow).
Billed as “The shooting ground you have all been waiting for” Meadowcroft Shoot near Marksbury, Somerset was quite a surprise. Nestled in a little valley several hundred yards literally off the beaten track a lot of work has gone into making two car parks, paths through the shooting ground and installing some comforting facilities. There was a superb variety of birds, from testing long distance teal and loopers to easy to miss close rabbits and crossers.
One slight annoyance was they were taking CPSA registration numbers as if it was a registered shoot and charging the same for birds only, £36 a round
Some pictures of the layout
Definitely worth another visit on April 19th
Couldn't hit a barn door
